Original caption: Kita-Amerika kyowa seiji-shu jokan shinzo no utsushi (Accurate picture of commanding officer from the republic of North America.) Japanese woodcut print shows an American military officer. Note: probably Captain Henry Adams, according to information on annotation furnished by Commander Davis. Definitely an officer of Perry's expedition, done around the time of the reception at Yokohama. Image date: ca. 1854.
