The top scene depicts the souvetaurilia, a sacrifice accompanying the census. The censor, seared in a chair, receives the declarations which a scribe wites down; the citizen holds in his hand the tablet on which is the statement of his property, determining the class to which he belongs. The bottom scene shows citizens lining up to register.
