The Chess-players. After a Miniature of the "Three Ages of Man," a manuscript attributed to Estienne Porchier (End of the Fifteenth Century). The scene is laid in one of the salons of the castle of the Plesis-les-Tours, the residence of King Louis XI; in the player to the right the features of the king are recognisable. Image date: ca. 1874.
