Wild turkeys near residences in Georgia
2005 photograph taken by a Centers for Disease Control, Division of Creative Services staff member depicts what has become common commonplace in his neighborhood, which is the presence of a flock of wild turkeys. Increased proximity and interaction with human beings can increase human exposure to viral and bacterial pathogens carried by such pseudo-domesticated animals, including West Nile virus, rabies, and malaria.
