CDC staffer inoculates chicken eggs with influenza virus in 1968
Penny Gentry, a CDC laboratorian, inoculates 10-day-old embryonated chicken eggs with specimens containing the influenza virus. After inoculation, the culture is incubated for two to three days for possible virus multiplication. If the virus multiplies, it is identified by a serological procedure to determine the influenza type. Date: 1968.
